The provider of collaborative workplace solutions, WeWork India, will get funding to the tune of $100 million from its parent WeWork Global to push growth. WeWork is based on the premise that the future would belong with flexible workplaces. The COVID-19 may have come as a blessing in disguise for the likes of WeWork as the focus will now be for reducing the realty costs and shift to collaborative spaces. This is more so in the case of start-up entrepreneurs. Post the COVID-19 pandemic, the company sees a new opportunity in the flexible workspace industry in India and abroad. The reason the pandemic may have been a boost is because it expects that post the pandemic it may have accelerated the shift to flexible workspaces. In the post COVID-19 scenario, businesses are looking to manage cash flows effectively by moving costs to a variable model. We Work fits in perfectly into this new model. Office space offers a huge opportunity for companies to free up cash. Since entering India, WeWork has full service and innovative workspaces, with more than 60,000 desks in 34 locations across 6 cities.
