In its latest round of investments, Byju’s announced that Blackrock, Sands Capital and Alkeon Capital had come in as new investors as part of a $500 million fund raising program. This latest round values Byju’s at $10.8 billion. It was valued at $8 billion just last year.

Byju’s has had a gala time since the lockdown was announced. It has added over 2.50 crore new students on its platform and currently has over 45 lakh paid subscribes for its onlin training classes. These programs are offered in multiple vernacular languages.

Byju’s has already raised $1 billion since January this year reflecting the increasing interest in edtech start-ups. The Indian middle-class is willing to spend a big share of their income on continuous education and tutoring to give their children an edge.

Since January this year, the valuation of Byju’s has increased by 45%, since it raised funding from Tencent.
