Bharti Airtel posted net loss of Rs.5237 crore on the back of a one-time charge of Rs.7004 crore in the Mar-20 quarter. This provision is in line with the Supreme Court judgement on AGR charges. In the Mar-19 quarter, Bharti had reported a small profit of Rs.107 crore. However, overall business appeared to be robust as total revenues for the Mar-20 quarter rose by 15% to Rs.23,722 crore. In late December 2019, Bharti had raised the minimum monthly recharge to Rs.45 for monthly users and had increased tariffs by 40% especially for the low contribution groups. However, Bharti’s core business is still EBITDA positive. Bharti Airtel reported average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) of Rrs.154, which nearly 20% higher than what Reliance Jio had reported in the previous quarter. Bharti added more than 12.5 million 4G customers during the quarter. The stock has rallied sharply in the quarter.
