One of the big objections raised by the farmers and the opposition parties during the farmer agitation has been that the farm bill was intended to benefit large corporate houses like the Adani Group, which already had a fairly large stake in the Indian agriculture sector.

In response to the farmer’s protests and to the allegations made against them, the Adani group has strongly denied that it would be in, any ways, a beneficiary of the opening up of the agricultural sector to the private sector. Adani has also clarified that is not in any ways involved in buying any produce directly from the farmer.

In addition, Adani has also clarified that it neither buys food grains from farmers nor does it have any say in the pricing of these food grains. Hence most of these allegations against the group were entirely baseless. On the deal it has with the Food Corporation of India, Adani group clarified that it only operated grain silos on behalf of the FCI.

Adani group has clearly mentioned that in their current deal with the Food Corporation of India, the FCI bought food grains from farmers and stored them in silos built through a public-private partnership with Adani group. Apart from the fee income, players like Adani had little say. They added that the food grains and the warehouses were owned by FCI.
