The lockdown took its toll on liquor sales as United Spirits reported a 46% fall in net revenues to Rs.3829 crore for the Jun-20 quarter. This fall was largely attributable to a total lockdown for over a month leading to tepid sales during the quarter. United Spirits reported a net loss of Rs.215 crore in the Jun-20 quarter after booking extraordinary loss of Rs.75 crore towards the Bar Initiative.

If one were to summarize, it was the zero-sales for the full month of April and the tepid sales in May that impacted the profits of the company. However, United Spirits has reported that sequentially, the months of June and July have started showing growth. But the lag effect could remain with restaurants and bars still to function at full capacity across India.
