Big four global audit firms- KPMG, Price Water House Cooper's, E&Y and Deloitte India are directed by the Bar Council of Delhi to refrain from indulging in any legal practice in India until further hearings from the lawyers' body. The next hearing is scheduled on July 12, 2019.

The Bar Council of Delhi passed the direction after the complaint filed by Lalit Bhasin, President of the Society of Indian Law Firms, a representative body of over 100 law firms in the country. Senior advocate, Lalit Bhasin, filed a petition that the firms engaged in law practice are not legally permissible. In India such practice is called is equal to “unauthorized practice of law”.
He claims that the employees of these firms were law graduates and providing legal advice. They did not register themselves with the Bar Council of India. Apart from that, the employees draft joint venture and other agreements for clients.

In the meantime, the Council has asked all the respective firms to get a list of all the advocates working in any of their offices at any place.
