There aren’t any hard and fast eligibility criteria for purchasing two-wheeler policy in India. Thus, anyone who is permitted to ride a two-wheeler can purchase insurance for two-wheelers.

So, if you have a valid driving license, then you can purchase a policy.

A policyholder will preferably need to be employed or self-employed to buy the policy. Further, he/she would need to meet the minimum income criteria specified by the insurance company.

Given that the Indian government has made taking a liability-only two-wheeler insurance policy mandatory, your first two-wheeler insurance policy will, in all likelihood, be a part of your vehicle’s package and will last for a year.

You will need to renew your two-wheeler insurance policy for the years after your first year.
