Bharat ETF is the latest bond that has launched with the purpose to attract investors that seek fixed regular income and tax-saving options. These bonds are long-term in nature and are available in two variants, 3-year bonds, and 10-year bonds. This bond will have investments only in bonds that are issued by a selected set of central government PSUs, so these bonds are typically risk-free.

This is a thematic fund and hence it might outperform the market. Also, these bonds are backed –up by the government so there are chances that investors are if not fully, mostly covered in terms of their initial investment. Also, returns are attractive as it is 6.75-7.45% varying according to maturity. However, under this bond, there are chances that your initial investment will also grow besides generating fixed income.

Fixed deposits, on the other hand, also offer interest rates ranging between 6.25-8%, depending upon the age of the investor and the bank. The best and only good thing about fixed deposits is that they are risk-free and your investment will be secured for all the period of your investment. However, the only add on that you’ll receive on FDs is interested and it will not keep pace with the market growth.

So, if you are looking for something that is totally risk-free and you want to play safe, you can opt for FD. Otherwise, if you want your initial investment to grow along with receiving interest and other tax-benefits you can opt for Bharat ETF bond.
