Most banks charge their customers for the ATM transactions they conduct. This came in to effect in August 2014, when the Reserve Bank of India rolled out a policy that stated that banks can offer a certain number of transactions free of charge. Thus, banks were instructed to not charge customers for a certain number of transactions.
However, certain banks have allowed customers to conduct free transactions at their own ATMs or home bank ATMs. These banks are:
- IDBI Bank
- Citi Bank
- Bank of Baroda
- State Bank of India (only for salary accounts)
- Kotak Mahindra Bank
- Canara Bank
- Punjab National Bank
Please note, this list can change based on banks’ discretion. So, do crosscheck with the bank as to how many free transactions they allow and where.
