Dainik Jagran publisher, Jagran Prakashan Ltd, reported a net loss of Rs.44.31 crore for the Jun-20 quarter. In the Jun-19 quarter, Jagran had posted net profit of Rs.65.75. Total revenues for the Jun-20 quarter dropped 65.23% to Rs.204.49 crore due to weak COVId sales. Even total expenses were, consequently, down 45.6% at Rs.487.93 crore.

The uncertainties around the lockdown had hurt consumer sentiment as well as the spending sentiments of business. Most hit by the pandemic was the retail business which negatively impacts the media industry. Jun-20 quarter was more about ensuring adequate liquidity to ensure continuity of business. Even the FM radio business revenue dropped to Rs.14.36 crore against Rs.69.78 crore in the Jun-19 quarter.
