Nirmala Sitharaman provided the break-up of PM Modi's Rs.20 lakh crore stimulus with the actual sum being closer to Rs.21 lakh crore. In a nutshell, the total stimulus was over 10% of the GDP and hardly left any sector untouched. It was a combination of fiscal outlays, monetary support and supportive directed bank funding for urgent focus areas. In terms of the theme, the focus (as outlined earlier by the PM) was on cottage industries, MSMEs, working class, middle class and industry overall. The idea was to empower the poor, labourers and migrant workers; both in the organised and unorganised sectors.
