Sanofi India announced its quarterly results on 23 February where the pressure on the top line was quite evident. However, what actually stood out in the results announcement was the Rs.125 per share final dividend and a Rs.240 per share special dividend for the year ended December 2020. This took the total dividend pay-out for the year to Rs.365 per share.

While the dividend pay-out will be done after 04-May this year, let us take a quick look at the financial numbers of Sanofi for the fourth quarter ended December 2020 and also for the full year. The MNC French pharma major Sanofi reported net profits of Rs.123 crore for the Dec-20 quarter reflecting a 26.8% growth on yoy basis.

Even the full-year profits for the financial year ended Dec-20 were 15% higher at Rs.477 crore. However, the revenues came under pressure on account of the COVID impact. Q4 revenues were lower 13% YOY at Rs.720 crore. At the same time, full year revenues were 5.5% lower at Rs.2,901 crore.

During the year, Sanofi completed the slump sale of its Ankleshwar manufacturing facility to Zentiva. Some of the gains from the sale were booked as exceptional gains in the quarter. The operations of the company were impacted partially by the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. The company AGM will be held on 27 April 2021.
