The government recently announced its new foreign direct investment (FDI) policy on e-commerce and that has led to some chaos in e-commerce sector.

According to the new FDI policy, the government has banned aggregators from selling their own goods on their website. Additionally, it has directed the e-commerce companies to stop giving steep discounts and cashback schemes.

In what seems like a further blow to these e-commerce companies, the government has also banned online retailers from entering exclusive deals to promote certain brands.

Thus, OnePlus won’t be able to sell its OnePlus smartphones on Amazon, just like Xiaomi won’t be able to sell its Mi smartphones on Flipkart.

Hence, from a customer point of view, we might miss out on a few discounted products and exclusive tie-ups before the ecommerce industry figures out a way to comply with these norms while giving discounts to its customers.
