What is the scene on the mutual funds flows for the month of October? Has there been an improvement?

Actually, the month of October saw some positive flows into mutual funds after a relatively dull September. Here are the highlights of the MF flows as per data put out by AMFI.

· Mutual fund AUM overall was up by 7.4% at Rs.26,33,000 crore; a smart growth compared to the previous month.

· The net mutual fund inflow was positive in October at Rs.1,33,000 crore compared to net redemption of Rs 1,52,000 crore in the month of September. In October, liquid fund inflows were back with a whopping net inflow of Rs.93,200 crore.

· Net inflows into equity funds was slightly lower in October with open ended funds seeing a net infusion of Rs.6,026 crore compared to Rs.6,489 crore infusion in the month of September.

· Among debt-oriented schemes, liquid funds with investments in cash assets such as treasury bills, certificates of deposit and CP saw infusion of Rs 93,200 crore in October compared to an outflow of Rs 1,40,000 crore in September. Overall, debt funds inflows were to the tune of Rs.1,20,000 crore.

With gold prices peaking in India at all time highs, the appetite for gold funds reduced. Gold ETFs, saw an outflow of Rs.31.45 crore after witnessing inflow in the preceding two months Rs.44 crore in September and Rs.145 crore in August.
