Kotak Investment Advisors or KIAL is a part of Kotak Mahindra Bank and handles the group’s, an alternate asset investments. It has now tied up with Allianz Investment Management, part of the Allianz Insurance Group of Germany. Both KIAL and Allianz Investment Management announced a partnership for investing in the Indian private credit market, which they foresee booming in the coming years.

Allianz made its first credit investment of $150 million in KIAL’s 11th Real Estate Debt Fund. This fund largely which focuses on early and late-stage real estate projects across India. While Allianz will bankroll the partnership with its access to cheap funds, Kotak will bring to the table its deep expertise in tapping the right investment opportunities in India. The idea of the partnership is to participate in the best private debt opportunities in India.

Kotak and Allianz are also looking at these investments as a play on the post-pandemic recovery that is expected to take the GDP growth to above 12% in FY22. KIAL is a subsidiary of Kotak Bank and was established in 2005 to focus on alternate assets. KIAL has already raised a total sum of $4.6 billion till date via PE funds, infrastructure funds, real estate Funds, Special Situations Fund, Listed Strategies etc.
