A fixed deposit is an investment option provided by banks and non-banking finance companies to investors. These organisations pay investors with higher rate of interest than the regular savings bank account, if held until the maturity date.

A fixed deposit (FD) is one of Indian’s most-sought after investment option. This is because it provides a uniform flow of money in the form of interest.

Most individuals opt for fixed deposits from the banks they have their accounts in. This is because it is easier and far more convenient.

However, a lot of investors also don’t know that corporate houses, too, have their own fixed deposits, that offer, usually, higher rates of interest (vis-à-vis banks).
