As big changes are taking place in the US polity and India is desperate to get a large size of the global FDI cake, Prime Minister Modi virtually met around 20 large global investors to brief them on the attractive of India as an investment destination for global investors.

These big names included Mubadala from the Middle East, GIC of Singapore, JBIC of Japan, Qatar Investment Authority, Temasek of Singapore, New York Life and CPDQ of Canada. The Prime Minister offered an overview to the CEOs and CIOs of these funds on the investment opportunities currently in India.

There was also a strong Indian business contingent in the virtual conference. It included marquee names like Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Nandan Nilekani, Dilip Shanghavi, Uday Kotak and Deepak Parekh.

The reasons for this conference timing are not far to seek. India has shown good traction on FDI in the current year and the PM wants to maintain the momentum. Secondly, with the US elections outcome yet to be officially clear, it pays to stay in the radar of global investors.
