To buy a pension plan, an individual requires mainly three types of documents:

- Document for age proof

- Document for identity proof

- Document for address proof

For age proof, any of the following documents can be presented:

  • Birth Certificate
  • School or High School mark sheet
  • Driving License
  • Passport
  • Voter ID

For identity proof, any of the following documents can be submitted to prove that the individual is of Indian nationality:

  • Driving License
  • Passport
  • Voter ID
  • PAN Card
  • Aadhar Card

For address proof, any of the following documents can be submitted to support your permanent residential address.

  • Electricity Bill
  • Telephone Bill
  • Ration Card
  • Driving License
  • Passport
  • Aadhar Card

For income proof, any of the following documents can be submitted:

  • Salary slip
  • Bank Statement slip
  • IT Return (ITR) file

Other than these proof statements, one also has to submit a duly-filled proposal form. Do note, it is very important that you provide all information as accurately as possible.

Additionally, some life insurance companies might also ask for a medical check-up before accepting your proposal for a pension plan. Accordingly, medical reports might also be required to be submitted.
