Reward points or loyalty points is the bank or credit company’s way of rewarding its customers for using their credit card. This rewards programme is offered by almost all bank/credit card companies.

However, you do not earn reward points on all transactions. Thus, it is important to know which transactions will help you gain reward points.

Here are a few transactions you cannot earn reward points on:

- Purchase of fuel

- Payment of insurance premiums

- Purchase of gold or gold jewellery

- Utility bill payments such as telephone bill, electricity bill, etc

- EMI transactions

Please note, the above is an indicative and not exhaustive list. So, do check with your credit card company to know which transactions can earn you reward points, and which can’t.
