The answer is yes and no. The share market is a platform where buyers of shares and sellers of shares come together. The stock exchange offers this platform. That means you can buy and sell shares on the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) or the NSE (National Stock Exchange). Unlike many other markets, you do not have to visit the stock exchange to buy and sell shares. In the old days, there were no trading terminals, so brokers and jobbers would go to the Bombay Stock Exchange ring where buy and sell orders would be placed. That is not required any longer. You can buy and sell shares by just calling up your broker and the broker will put the order in the trading system. Nobody is required to go the stock exchange. The broker can place the order on the BSE or the NSE.
Nowadays, people prefer to buy and sell shares on the internet itself. That means; you do not even need to go to your broker or even call up your broker. You can access your trading account from your PC or laptop and buy and sell shares. Your computer is your share market. You can also place orders through your I-Pad, notepad or even download the app on your smartphone.
