You are absolutely right this is one of the most dramatic pullbacks in the Nifty and the Sensex in a single day. The bounce of 1500 points on Nifty and 5000 on the Sensex has never happened in a single day any time before. More so, considering the fact that earlier in the day, trading on BSE and NSE had to be halted for 45 minutes after the 10% circuit was triggered in just 15 minutes of trading. This fall was on the back of widespread panic over the Coronavirus pandemic. However, once trading resumed after the halt Indian markets regained poise with Sensex and the Nifty Index gaining heavily by close of trade. The rupee also recovered after hitting a low of 74.50 and had bounced more than 60 paisa in mid day trades. The fear index (India VIX) also cooled down to 44 after touching a high level of 57. Financials led the bounce with SBI jumping 16%, Bank of Baroda 12% and PNB 10%. ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Federal Bank were up between 7% and 8%.
