Russia has already produced the first batch of its Coronavirus vaccine, days after Putin announced it pioneered the launch, testing and approval of the vaccine. Putin’s daughter had been the first person on whom the vaccine had been officially tested.

The Coronavirus vaccine was developed in Russia by the Gamaleya Research Institute in coordination with Russian Defence Ministry. The vaccine is named, Sputnik V, in memory of the Soviet-era satellite that had been launched in 1957 beating the US in the space race.

The vaccine for Coronavirus had been approved even though clinical trials had not been completed considering the emergency situation. However, not too many scientists have been pleased with the pace at which the magazine was launched and brought to market.

Alexander Gintsburg, who heads the Gamelaya Research Institute, mentioned that volunteers taking part in the final stage testing would have to go through two inoculations. However, mass production of the vaccine will only commence in September.

Whether it is actually a breakthrough or not will only be tested based on the long term application and also based on whether the vaccine is useful across the world or only in Russian conditions. A lot more clarity will emerge in the coming weeks.
