The relationship between tractors and agriculture is quite obvious. A good monsoon results in better cropping and therefore better rural incomes. This increases the demand for tractors and has serious long term implications for companies like M&M, which still derive a chunk of their revenues from the sale of tractors. A pick up in the rural economy also lends itself to greater demand for heavy vehicles as has been seen in the form of higher off-take by companies like Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland.
