Yes, in fact, Serum Institute will supply Saudi Arabia with 3 million AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses. These doses will be priced at $5.25 each. However, Serum has said there are no plans to divert any of its supplies to Europe, where there has been pressure on AstraZeneca to boost supplies. Serum is a licensee of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine.

Adar Poonawala confirmed that the doses to Saudi Arabia will be shipped in a week and Serum will also supply 1.5 million doses to South Africa at the same price. Brazil has already received 2 million doses from Serum. The 30% enhancement in production of vaccines will only happen by the end of March 2021.

Serum ruled out partnering with Pfizer as these vaccines needs to be stored at -70 Celsius and India currently lacked such facilities. Pfizer Biontech was the first to seek emergency approval in India but that is yet to be granted.
