Brookefield Asset Management of Canada is planning to raise close to $700 million by listing its Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) in the Indian IPO market. However, the IPO could be quite some time away as the proposed REIT is expected to be listed only by March 2021. The Indian REIT segment is catching the fancy of institutional investors as evidenced by Mindspace.

In India, Brookefield owns and operates a solid portfolio of over 22 million SFT of office property. It had recently acquired the entire Powai office portfolio from the Hiranandani group of Mumbai. It has also picked up the troubled Unitech Corporate Park and the Jet Airways office in Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai at fairly attractive prices. So investors can be assured of a good portfolio to begin with.
