LIC has indicated that it will give relaxation to policyholders in payment of premiums up to April 15 owing to the COVID-19 outbreak. To contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, majority of the states have asked people to maintain social distancing and avoid travel unless necessary. The absence of transport services has also made it difficult for people to reach the LIC branches. However, the online payment facility is still active. This is meant for people who do not use the online facility and are required to visit the branches to fulfil their premium payments. As a special case, LIC is likely to give an extension of 15 days till April 15. However, this will only be applicable for in-force policies and not for policies that expired or become past-due on account of non-payment of premiums.
