HDFC Bank cannot invest in Yes Bank so it is HDFC that is planning to invest in Yes Bank. Apart from HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Prime is also planning to invest into Yes Bank. Between HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Prime and SBI; the three companies will be investing up to Rs.6450 crore into Yes bank. Now the government needs to banks to put up another rRs.3550 crore so that Rs.10,000 crore can be raised through banking support and a number of other private banks have also evinced interest. Once the Rs.10,000 crore is raised, the government looks to raise an additional Rs.10,000 crore from private equity (PE) players. Yes Bank needs capital infusion to the tune of Rs.20,000 crore in the next six months if it has to become operational once again. That will be the first target of the government in this case.
