Most of us have been investing in gold in the form of bars, coins or as jewellery. Gold has long been considered the only indestructible asset class. In a way that is right because it has hardly lost any of its form in the last thousands of years and every ounce of gold mined is still present in some form in some part of the world. During visits abroad investors have often found that a lot of people out there were investing in gold and they all believed that gold would be an important investment in the coming years. While such arguments do sound exciting, you are not really convinced that gold could be a good investment. After all, you have grown up seeing family members obsessing over gold and jewellery. You had typically always considered gold an idle investment and are therefore not convinced that gold could be an investment.

Actually, the globally approach is not entirely wrong. Gold is a distinct asset class that brings some unique advantages. If you speak in detail to you financial advisor about the idea of buying gold as an investment, you may get a clearer picture. You will be surprised that your financial advisor may end up telling you that gold must constitute at least 7-10% of his portfolio.
