DA or Dearness Allowance is an allowance the government pays to its employees and pensioners. It is a cost of living adjustment allowance and is calculated as a percentage of an Indian citizen's basic salary to counter the impact of inflation.

The reason you must not have seen this entry in your salary slip is because you must be working for a private company and your parents must be state or central employees. DA is only applicable for employees of the public sector and not for those who work in the private sector. Thus, they must be getting the DA that you don’t get owing to your employment in a private company.
