Mutual funds are subject to some volatility and are not expected to be steady or give steady returns throughout the year. The reason a person invests in mutual funds is its ability to give inflation-beating returns.

However, to get higher returns, one must assume some amount of risk. Mutual funds especially over the long run, help stabilize the ups and downs, and aid wealth creation. Your mutual decisions should be based on your financial portfolio and your risk appetite.

Mutual fund investing should always be goal-based. It will be prudent to get a better understanding of the reason to invest in old mutual funds. If it is part of a portfolio, then it works.

But if it is your sole exposure to mutual funds, then maybe you should think to go diversifying into other categories of funds.
