According to a press release put out by the Labour Ministry, for the current fiscal year 2019-20, in case of change of jobs, you will have to manually transfer the PF account online, even if you have the UAN in place. However, this will not be required from fiscal year 2020-21 since such transfers will happen automatically. Since you are changing jobs in this fiscal year, you will be required to file transfer of EPF claims, even if you already have a UAN. However, the good news for you is that the process is quite simple and can be completed in less than 15 minutes by logging into the EPF website and keeping all the documents ready. Here is the process that you need to follow to transfer your PF online.

a) You first need to Login to your EPF account online using your UAN and password and click on the 'Online Services' option.

b) From the drop-down menu select 'One Member – One EPF Account Transfer Request' and then again enter your UAN or the old EPF member ID. Once this is done, your existing account details will be displayed.

c) Your transfer will have to be validated either by your new employer or previous employer and you will have to select the option and validate with an OTP.

d) Once you enter the OTP, your job is over. At that point, a request is sent to your employer to process the transfer online. You can always check the status of the EPF transfer claim under 'Track Claim Status' option.

The EPF can also be transferred offline by filling up Form 13 and submitting it either to your old employer or to your new employer. However, the online facility is much simpler and quicker.
