Both are extremely good stocks for the long haul, but have to keep a long term view. HDFC will also be raising up to Rs.2,500 crore by issuing bonds on a private placement basis. The secured redeemable non-convertible debentures are to be allotted on a private placement basis. The bonds will be offered at a coupon rate of 7.21% per annum. The stock has rallied sharply in this year by over 30% but still holds promise on a SOTP basis.

With regards to NTPC the PSU power company is expected to add 10 GW of solar energy generation capacity by 2022. This will involve an investment of around Rs.50,000 crore to be funded mainly by green bonds. Currently, NTPC has installed renewable energy capacity of 920 MW, which constitutes mainly solar energy. This is likely to be positive for NTPC and its P/E at 9 is also quite attractive. The stock offers good value for investors as it adds up to capacity at low costs.
