At the current juncture, the Piramal group has confirmed that it is only looking at the realty portfolios of Dewan Housing and there is no confirmation of any deal. Also, Piramal has clarified that the acquisition will only be of the real estate portfolio and that Piramal will not take any stake in Dewan Housing. That needs to be clearly understood. From a broader perspective, it should be remembered that Dewan Housing has fallen by nearly 85% from its peak levels and it is in a liquidity crunch of sorts. Dewan also needs to find steady sources of funding its home loan portfolio at low cost and without maturity mismatch. It may be too early to jump into Dewan Housing at this point of time. Of course, you can look at the stock as a short trade with strict stop losses.
