If you want to sell the stock, then the process is quite simple. You can call up your broker and sell the shares offline or you can open the internet trading account and sell the shares online. Both ways are fine. What happens when you sell shares offline? Your broker will first confirm that you have the required shares in your demat account. Then the broker will sell the shares at the best price or at the price that you specify. Once the shares are sold, the broker will give you a confirmation that the sale is done. Your demat account will give you a debit instruction slip (DIS) booklet. Ensure that you write the number of shares sold and give it to your broker on the same day with your signature. Once the DIS is submitted, the broker will get the delivery from your demat account and do the rest. On the next day, the shares will get debited to your demat account and on the second day, the sale proceeds will be credited to your bank account.
You can also sell online by linking your demat account and trading account. Actually, that is a lot simpler because you do not have to worry about DIS and those kinds of hassles.
