July was again a month where FPIs were net buyers after being net buyers in Jun-20. Of course, FPI buying was more subdued compared to Jun-20. For the month of Jul-20, FPIs pumped in net Rs.3301 crore into the Indian markets on hopes that the Coronavirus vaccine may happen sooner than later. However, debt continues to see net selling by FPIs.

For example, in Jul-20 FPIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs.7563 in equities while they were net sellers to the tune of Rs.4262 crore in debt. In June, some very large block deals in stocks like Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, Kotak Bank, HDFC Life and ICICI Pru Life. That helped the FPIs to become net buyers in the Indian market to the tune of Rs.24,053 crore.
