The latest Ernst & Young India IPO Trends Report for the Sep-20 quarter showed that real estate, technology and telecommunications were the key sectors as far as IPOs were concerned. The 8 IPOs in this period raised $850 million; close to Rs.6200 crore.

In the Sep-20 quarter, the largest single IPO was Mindspace Business Park REIT which collected $602 million and accounted for 75% of the funds raised via the IPO route. Apart from the main line, there were also 4 IPOs in the SME segment during the quarter.

Apart from SBI Cards which came out in the first half of the year, the H1 was virtually a washout. Most of the action happened in the second half with September being one of the most active in terms of number of IPOs handled.

This has also been the trend globally, as September quarter turned out to be extremely active for IPOs on the back of a tremendous surge in liquidity. It was the most active third quarter in the last 20 years.

In the global IPO market a total number of 872 IPOs were seen during the first 9 months. During the 9-month period, the total amount collected via the IPO route was nearly $165 billion. India ranked ninth globally in IPOs.
