Some of the property consultants like Anarock have estimated that the Indian hotel industry could face a huge business loss of Rs.90,000 crore during the current year. Currently, all hotels are shut due to nationwide lockdown to control Coronavirus. Quite apparently, occupancies across hotels in key cities witnessed a sharp decline as travel restrictions intensified. There is still not clarity on the lifting of the lockdown. The total revenue erosion in the current year could be closer to 57%. While the organized hotel sector will face a revenue loss of Rs.40,000 crore, the unorganized will also take a hit of Rs.50,000 crore. For the full year, the occupancy of hotels across India is expected to fall 48%. In addition, the average daily rate (ADR) also fell by 7% compared to previous year.
