A total of 133 companies out of a total of 4248 listed companies have declared their quarterly results for the quarter ended March 2019. While some big names have already announced results, a whole lot of key results are still remaining.

Highlights of the results declared so far?

If we were to look at the overall financials of the 133 companies on a combined basis, we can decipher the following key points:

· The combined sales of these 133 companies are up by 11.2% over the corresponding fourth quarter last year. There have been sectoral differences with autos disappointing on sales but banks and IT companies reporting better revenues.

· Interest cost for these 133 companies is up by 27% on a YOY basis which is quite a lot. That is explained more by the higher cost of funds that most companies have faced with even blue chip borrowers seeing up to a 100 bps rise in borrowing cost.

· The net profits of these 133 companies have grown nearly 3-fold compared to the fourth quarter last year but will get a much clearer picture after we get the numbers of all the banks, auto companies and telecom companies, which could face pressure.
