You are right that AMFI announced the MF flows for Jan-20 on Feb 10. It was certainly a positive show. Equity fund inflows were up by nearly 75% at Rs.7,877 crore while overall flows into mutual funds during the month was Rs.120,000 crore. This takes the total average AUM of the Indian mutual fund industry to Rs.28,20,000 crore. The debt fund flows were dominated at the short end of the yield curve with liquid funds, money market funds and low duration funds attracting the bulk of the inflows. On the equity side, mid cap and small cap funds attracted a lot of interest, which was quite surprising as it happened at the expense of large cap funds. ETF flows continued to be robust, thanks to the CPSE ETF of the government of India. Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) flows during Jan-20 were at Rs.8538 crore and the number of SIP accounts stood at 3 crore, with SIP AUM nearly 12% of the overall AUM of the MF industry.
