More often than not, an add-on credit card is taken for an individual who doesn’t have a decent credit history. This could be because:

- He/she is too young

- He/she is too old

- He/she has never taken any debt and hence, there’s no record of his/her repayment history.

These individuals then don’t get to benefit from a credit card’s credit if they ever need to.

Thus, by taking an add-on card, the individual can benefit from having a credit card despite not being eligible for it.
