Ambuja Cements reported 28.76% fall in net profits for the Jun-20 quarter to Rs.593 crore, with the impact largely on account of COVID-19 disruptions. For the Jun-20 quarter its total revenues were also down 34.3% at Rs.4644 crore. Volumes took a big hit as construction and infrastructure activity took a big hit. Ambuja follows the calendar year for its accounts.

Total expenses also fell by 35% due to lower operations and a strict control on costs. The results include the performance of subsidiary, ACC, also. The numbers reported by Ambuja also include a dividend of Rs.132 crore received from ACC. Cement volumes were down sharply by 28% during the quarter to just 4.19 million tonnes. Stock was marginally up.
