In fact, SEBI has now made it mandatory for the broker to send SMS to the customer on the registered mobile number and also send an email confirmation as a backup measure of safety. This is an added facility and ensures that you immediately escalate in case you find that there has been any unauthorized transaction. This is very important as you will be constantly updated about your demat account and you can immediately escalate any discrepancies that you notice. Nowadays even the exchanges send you the SMS directly so the chances of fraud are largely reduced. In case you are not receiving the messages, please inform your DP immediately to start the service. This is a free service and your DP will not charge you for this service. Ensure that your mobile is not blocking automated messages by DND banning.
