If you look at the 10 most valuable companies in India, they jointly managed to add close to Rs.75,000 crore in market cap during the week. During the week, the markets did not show too much traction as the 11,200 levels on the Nifty continued to remain a major resistance. In the absence of any fresh triggers, the week was largely about trailing global markets.

Of course, Reliance Industries remained the star of the week accounting for bulk of the market cap gains during the week with most of the gains coming in that one day when the stock was up by 7%. In terms of other stocks, TCS, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ITC and ICICI Bank also managed to add to their market, albeit in a much smaller way.

On the downside, HUL, HDFC, Kotak Bank and Infosys logged losses during the week. Big daddy Reliance Industries saw its market cap enhanced by Rs.50,600 crore after hints that the retail business too may get fancy valuations. Infosys was a major loser giving up Rs.6700 crore in market cap during the week after the frenetic 25% rally in the stock post Q1 results.
