As per the earlier provisions of EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organization), only the employer was allowed to enter the date of exit in the employee’s provident fund account. Due to this, there was a delay in the settlement of PF due to various reasons on part of the employer. However, to cope with that unnecessary delay, recently it has been notified that the employee can enter his exit date in the PF account at the time of withdrawal so as to enable timely settlement of PF claims.

Here’s how you can do it:
  • You need to log-on to the UAN portal using your Universal Account Number and password.
  • Check whether an exit date has already been entered by your employer or not. To check Click on ‘Service History’ under ‘View’ on the top panel of the homepage.
  • Now, if no exit date has been entered earlier, you can click on ‘My Account’ and then click ‘Mark exit’ on the window that could be seen.
  • From the drop-down on the next page choose the option ‘Employer’
  • Enter the following details on the next page:

-Date of Birth

-Date of Joining

-Date of exit

  • Press Enter
  • You will receive an OTP to confirm the changes and then you are good to go.
Key Points:
Few things that you should keep in mind are:
  1. You can select any date of the last contribution month by the employee, and the details for that are generally provided on the top panel of the page.
  2. You will be allowed to enter the exit date only after two months of leaving your job.
  3. OTP shall be sent on your number that is registered and linked to your Aadhaar card and not to the EPFO account.
  4. Just make sure that you enter the correct details, which match with your documents.
