According to a report put out by CRISIL, Indian companies could see sequential revenues fall by around 8-10% due to the impact of COVID 2.0. The fall in revenues is likely to be triggered by sectors like consumer discretionary products, especially automobiles. However, the CRISIL report has also underlined that on a yoy basis, the revenue numbers should still be higher by 45-50% due to the low base and strong commodity prices in current quarter.

CRISIL expects the revenue fall sequentially to be broad-based with 25 out of the 40 sectors represented logging lower revenues. Typically, companies in the automobiles, FMCG and construction business have seen pressure on revenues while sectors like steel and aluminium are likely to benefit from the dividends of high commodity prices. CRISIL also expects the export-drive sectors like IT services and pharmaceuticals to do well.

EBITDA is likely to be 65% higher yoy but around 8% lower on sequential basis. Operating margins could be positively impacted by strong commodity prices.
