The USFDA or the US Food and Drug Authority, authorized Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use. This comes a week after the USFDA granted the first authorization to the COVID vaccine candidate jointly brought to the market by Pfizer of the US and BionTech of Germany. Let us look at how the Moderna vaccine compares with the Pfizer vaccine.

Both the above vaccines use the messenger RNA technology, which basically contains instructions for the human cells to create proteins that mimic part of the Coronavirus. The instructions are such that they will spur the immune system into action so that the entire body becomes a virus-zapping vaccine factory. It will work on building immunity.

Both vaccines target the spikes on the virus, which actually causes the affliction. The vaccines appear to be almost similar in effectiveness. Pfizer and BionTech vaccine boasted 95% effective at preventing disease symptoms in late-stage trials, which is considered an extremely encouraging number for any vaccination.
