While the trade war is far from being resolved so soon, there has surely been some progress on the tempering of the trade war that has impacted all countries including India. For example, Trump and Xi Jinping who met at the Osaka Summit have decided that Trump will not push for more tariffs on Chinese imports. At the same time, it is also agreed that China will not put a ban in American imports and will again start its imports from the US. This at least goes to show that there is some progress on the trade talks and the markets are likely to welcome this move when it opens next week.

Trump also committed that trade talks will continue and that the US will not impose any fresh tariffs on Chinese goods for now. However, the existing tariffs will continue. Based on the statements from the two sides it does appear that there was no discussion on the crucial security issues that the US had raised against Huawei. However, Trump has committed that Huawei will be allowed to buy equipment in the US and continue its current scale of business. For now the right noises have been made by both the sides.
