Investing is personal and caters to individual financial plans. Such plans are specific to an individual’s risk profile. Having said that, a fund manager can indeed invest in their own fund or trust but there may be different ways of doing so or restrictions may be in place.

Having a manager who puts their own money in their fund can also provide a degree of confidence for an investor as that manager will have a strong, personal motivation to do well for their investors and they can enjoy their success together. In the same vein, if the investors lose out, the manager will feel that pain too. It's known as having “skin in the game”.

SEBI has mandated mutual fund houses to disclose how much fund managers, directors of the asset management company, and other key employees invest their own money into their schemes. You can check that for your own fund. It will be under disclosures of the particular fund.
