You are right that India recorded its highest record 38,902 cases on 18 July in a span of just 24 hours. The number of casualties on a single day also touched 543. India is already the third most infected country in the world after the United States and Brazil even as the infections have stabilized and peaked out in most of the European nations.

India has crossed the million mark and has till date reported 10,77,618 positive Coronavirus cases. This includes 3,73,379 active cases and 6,77,423 who were cured and discharged. India has reported 26,816 deaths till date. In fact, the confirmed virus cases worldwide have topped 1.40 crore while deaths have surpassed the 600,000 mark.

According to John Hopkins Institute, United States tops the list of casualties with 140,103 deaths, followed by Brazil at 78,772 and the UK at 45,358 casualties. In terms of total infections, again the US leads the tally with 3.7 million infections, followed by Brazil with over 2 million and India with over 1 million. Globally affliction is at 14.2 million cases.
