Monday morning when I switched on news channel, Income Tax (IT) raid of C.M Kamal Nath's kin was everywhere. Income Tax Department carried raid at houses, office, and other properties of Chief Minister (CM) Kamal Nath’s kin. This raid is one of the raids carried by the Income Tax Officers at 50 locations in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. IT officers searched CM’s ex-Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Praveen Kakkad’s Indore and Bhopal house. The search started at 3.30 am in the morning as mentioned by Praveen Kakkad. As per newspaper, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said these searches “yielded unaccounted cash of Rs 14.6 cr so far, besides 252 bottles of liquor, few arms, and hide-skins of tiger”. Even though CBDT told that “widespread and well-organized racket of a collection of unaccounted cash of about Rs 281 crore”, it is not confirmed that this Rs 281 crore amount comes from CM’s undeclared amount because the amount is inclusive of raids carried at 50 locations.
